Friendship Travel adds new hosted chalets in France for 7-night exclusive houseparty trips

Two new chalets in Vaujany, Alpe d’Huez; one in Les Deux Alpes

Singles holiday specialist, Friendship Travel have added three new hosted chalets, a.k.a. ‘Houseparties’ in France to their ski-season 2021 / 2022 – despite the difficulty of sourcing hosted properties due to staff shortages post Covid and Brexit.

The characterful, traditional properties are located in Les Deux Alpes and in a hamlet, Vaujany, near Alpe D’Huez.

“To be able to offer hosted chalets for single travellers at a time when 85% of ski companies have stopped offering catered chalets or self-catering properties altogether is a real boon for single travellers this season,” says Colum McLornan, owner of Antrim-based Friendship Travel.

“Each of our ski house-parties are accompanied by a Friendship Travel host, who acts as an ice-breaker, facilitator and trusted companion, all of whom come from Ireland, north or south and who have an Irish or EU passport allowing them to work in the resorts.”

First-time ski or snowboarders as well as the more experienced are welcome, as 6 days tuition is offered.

Details of the new house-party properties are as follows:

Exclusive: Chalet Ruby, Les Deux Alpes

A characterful, 3-star plus, fully-renovated former stone farm cottage over two floors located in the oldest part of town and just 50 metres from the free bus stop.

Log fire, open air jacuzzi on chalet terrace.

9 bedrooms sleeping 10 guests maximum. Chalet Ruby comprises 2 single rooms, 3 super king rooms and 2 twin rooms. Although there is no single supplement, guests can choose to share in twin-share rooms in order to reduce costs.

A 7-night Chalet Ruby Houseparty includes return flights to Grenoble from Gatwick, airport transfers, own or shared room as appropriate, dinner with wine on 5 evenings, breakfast and afternoon tea, services of local chalet hosts, a ski mapping service and 6 half-day lessons.

How much? From £1,085 twin share (including return flights ex Grenoble), or from £1,285 sole use.

The trip departs 19th December 2021, 8th January, 29th January and 5th March 2022.

Chalet Rostaing and Chalet Lucette, Vaujany, Alpe D’Huez

The two chalets, just 3 minutes from a modern ski-resort, sit side by side in one of the most charming alpine hamlets, Vaujany, just next to Alpe d’Huez and across from Les Deux Alpes. Both rated 3 star plus, the 11 tastefully decorated rooms, some with balconies, en-suite or private bathrooms, all with windows, can be booked on a single or twin share basis, the latter of which reduces the cost of the holiday by up to £200 per person.

A 7-night Chalet Rostaing Houseparty or Chalet Lucette Houseparty including return ATOL-bonded flights from many regional airports to Grenoble costs from £1,125 twin share or from £1,325 sole use.

The price includes airport transfers, 7 x breakfasts and afternoon tea, dinner with wine x 5, 6 morning ski or snowboard tuition and the services of a Friendship travel host for 5 days.

The trips depart 16th January, 6th February, 13th March, 20th March 2022.

The three new houseparty trips are in addition to the Niederau, Austria Ski & Snowboard trips staying in the 4-star Hotel Sonnschein, Niederau, which Friendship Travel already offer its guests.

What is a Houseparty? It may sound raucous, but a ‘Houseparty’ is simply a chalet, house or hotel shared by a group of single travellers but where each traveller has their own room (or shared by choice). Wine is included in the price, but just a half bottle at dinner! Friendship Travel have been doing ‘Houseparties’ for over 20 years and believe they are the best way for single travellers to feel comfortable, make friends and have a great holiday experience.
